A festival called the Headbangers Boat was recently held in a cruise ship and one attendee reportedly went overboard. Search and rescue efforts are currently being done in order to look for the man who fell from the ship; what happened?

According to Loudwire, a spokesperson for a Norwegian Cruise Line recently confirmed that an attendee of the music event, which was headlined by Lamb of God, that a man fell in the ocean while the cruise ship was on its way to Miami.

"On the early morning of Friday, Nov. 3, 2023, Norwegian Pearl was notified that a 41-year-old male guest went overboard while the ship was sailing near the Bahamas on its way to Miami," the spokesperson told Rock Feed.

Authorities and the United States Coast Guard have been informed about the matter and rescue operation is underway.

Since the investigation is still ongoing, there have been no updates regarding the identity of the man.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time," the spokesperson added.

Man Overboard During Cruise Music Festival

Metal Injection's co-founder, Frank Godla, was on board the ship when it all happened and he gave an update regarding the situation.

In a statement, he revealed that he was woken up by "some rally choppy waters" and the boat was making a hard U-turn which left him confused as to what was happening. (via Stereogum)

Later on, the captain of the ship made everyone on board aware of what happened.

In the afternoon, the captain later announced that they have no choice but to conclude the rescue mission and resume their path back to Miami, Florida, because of the condition of the waves.

"Our thoughts are with our fallen metal brother and his friends and family," he added.

Headbangers Boat 2023 - A Music Festival In a Cruise Ship

Aside from headliners Lamb Of God, the music festival also features some of the most talented musical acts within the heavy metal community.

The lineup includes Mastodon, Testament, GWAR, Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Municipal Waste, Lacuna Coil, God Forbid, and many more.

Since the shocking incident, it was reported that the festival went on as scheduled. Hatebreed was the first musical act to perform and frontman Jamey Jasta tried to remain positive throughout the event after what happened.
