Entertainment Weekly renewed the buzz regarding Efron's changing face when it posted its interview with the "High School Musical" star as he promoted his new movie. Fans were left shocked and confused because of his unrecognizable appearance, leading them to leave comments.

One said, "I thought he had changed because he is older, but I already found out that he had a jaw operation that changed his face a little; you can see the difference. he still looks handsome."

"'He shattered his jaw' yet clearly has filler in his cheeks. Dude just likes plastic surgery," one added, while another wrote, "He's looking like a minecraft character."

Zac Efron Is Proud of His Transformation

The 36-year-old "Rewrite the Stars" singer has since responded to the reactions he received after the emergence of the video.

On Wednesday, November 8, "The Iron Claw" marked its premiere in Dallas, Tex. where Efron bumped into an Entertainment Tonight reporter. He has been known for his muscular physique, but he pushed himself to the limits to perfectly portray Kevin Von Erich in the film.

"This movie's a true story, and that man, Kevin Von Erich, he really motivated me to get in shape for this movie," he explained. "The physicality he brought to the ring every single day was really unique. It changed wrestling. I knew that was going to be the hardest [thing] for me to master and get right. So, I put everything I had into it."

Aside from his physical appearance, he also credited his wardrobe that completed his portrayal and transformation. Per Efron, the hair and make-up team of the film was epic.

Amid some of the negative comments he received, Efron shrugged them off and focused on the positive response he received from Von Ehrich himself a night before the premiere.
