Jelly Roll recently won his very first CMA trophy at this year's CMA Awards and he recalled his entire experience throughout the night where he never touched his phone even once to enjoy the moment with his fellow artists.

According to Taste of Country, the musician was the one who opened and even closed the show, and during his appearance at the event, he decided to live in the moment and not use any gadgets.

"I was just telling my wife a second ago, I haven't touched my phone tonight at all," he told the press after the ceremony that took place at the Bridgestone Arena in downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

The evening was extra special for Jelly Roll as he won the CMA New Artist of the Year.

"I got to sit next to Zach Bryan, my wife and Post Malone, Lainey Wilson. I soaked in every conversation - literally, I don't know what the phone said. I'm hearing good things. I hope it's true," he added.

Jelly Roll Is Changing His Lifestyle for the Better

Later on in the press conference, Jelly Roll noted that he's doing a lot better in the present than he was in the past.

He later acknowledged that he lives a healthy lifestyle today because he eats better, loses weight, drinking water, and not drinking alcohol that much, but he clarified that when he drinks, he still "drink a lot."

Furthermore, he noted that that songwriting is one of the main things that keeps him healthy in terms of mental health and it's important to understand the therapy that is involved not just in writing songs but within the music itself.

"And the true power that music holds. Listen y'all, I'm not here - respectfully, I'm here to connect. I'm not here to entertain," he added.

Jelly Roll Will Not Use His Phone For the Rest of the Year

Over the past few months, Jelly Roll was busy performing in front of thousands of fans. In addition, he was also able to visit jails, rehabilitation centers, and homeless shelters to inspire other people and give back to the community.

With that, the musician became tired and exhausted from his busy schedule, so he told his followers on his official Instagram account that he wouldn't be using his phone for the rest of the year.

The reason why he did this was he wanted to focus on his family and be as present as possible to his loved ones.
