While Anthrax has yet to share the details of its new album, rumors claim that the band is collaborating with Dave Grohl for its new material.

Scott Ian confirmed in August that Anthrax created nine songs for the upcoming LP, adding that the band hoped it would be finished recording the album around Christmas time. Joey Belladonna also unveiled images while recording the vocals, sharing the progress of the album.

Despite the updates, Anthrax has yet to confirm the artists who contributed to the record - though it unveiled a hint.

Is Dave Grohl Working With Anthrax?

On Wednesday, November 15, Anthrax's official social media page uploaded a photo of the band members alongside the Foo Fighters founder in the latter's Studio 606, writing, "New album is going to be awesome. #FooThrax."

It also shared a video of Grohl playing his kit, with the hashtags seemingly confirming the collaboration.

Fans expressed their excitement on Facebook amid the speculations.

"I think Grohl should play drums on the album and Charlie plays guitar," one quipped.

"Dave on drums and Charlie on vocals...." another assumed, while a third fan wrote, "Love Dave, love Charlie, love anthrax, love the foo fighters."

Anthrax and Grohl have yet to confirm the collaboration, but the drummer does not have a post about the band as of press time.

Anthrax's New Album Update

Anthrax shared the clue after confirming that it had been working with producer Jay Ruston for the album. Ian told Eddie Trunk on "The Eddie Trunk Podcast" that he had already finished the nine songs' guitars.

"Certainly of the nine [songs] we've tracked so far, and, of course, the rough kind of demos we have of some of the stuff we haven't tracked with drums yet, from a riff point of view, it's definitely - I mean it's riffs with all capital letters," Ian said. "Like if you were going to write, you would write 'riffs' in all capitals with an exclamation point."

It would be the band's first album in nearly seven years after the COVID-19 pandemic and the members' health issues. Benante also told We Go To 11's Ruben Mosqueda that they would enter the studio during spring to record the new LP.
