Teyana Taylor Files for Divorce From Iman Shumpert, Accuses Him of Treating Her 'Cruelly'

Teyana Taylor and her now-estranged husband Iman Shumpert have been together for seven years, but it appears that their marriage is coming to an end as the singer recently filed for divorce; find out what made her do it below.

A news outlet recently obtained legal documents which state that the musician accused her athlete partner of being jealous in their relationship, emotionally abusive, and even insecure about her success.

She further alleged in the papers that the NBA player was "treating her cruelly and displaying extreme narcissistic behavior throughout the majority of their marriage."

Taylor claimed she received manipulative messages from the athlete regarding her career in the music industry.

By the time the basketball player became "more and more angry," the singer decided to "intentionally dim her light" in order for Shumpert to attempt to have a peaceful relationship and marriage.

Another reason for their legal separation was whenever the pair attended public events together, some photographers would ask him to get out of the frame for them to get photos of Taylor alone.

Taylor also rejected some projects and other opportunities because the athlete didn't want her to work.

Although Shumpert is worth more than her due to his contracts with NBA which is reportedly worth millions of dollars, Taylor said he was still insecure. (via Page Six)

When the basketball star's work as an NBA player started to get slow, the musician tried to look for jobs for him to work as an actor in the entertainment industry, but he allegedly didn't want to.

Now, Teyana Taylor is asking the court for full custody of their two children.

As of this writing, neither of the two stars have addressed the matter publicly.

The recent divorce filing comes a few months after Taylor announced on her social media page that she and her husband were already separated after being married for the past seven years.

She told her followers that both of them had already split "for a while" and she clarified that infidelity was not the reason why they broke up.

"We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children," she wrote.
