Dua Lipa just kicked off her new musical era with a brand new single titled "Houdini" but when she was working on her new record, did you know she wrote almost a hundred songs? How is that possible?

The musician recently spoke with "The Breakdown" where she tackled her new single along with Kevin Parker, Caroline Ailin, Tobias Jesso Jr., and Danny L Harle.

In the interview, the musician revealed that although her massive "Future Nostalgia" tour was postponed and rescheduled over three times due to the pandemic, she had more time to create more music and that is when she started writing "Houdini."

The other songs from her new album were written in Los Angeles as she was able to stay at Tame Impala's Kevin Parker's home studio.

"Kevin was on the computer, and he was working on the monitors ... and he just played a track," she said.

At the time, Lipa was inspired in an instant as the track was immediately born within the first two hours of hearing a riff.

Dua Lipa Wrote 97 Songs For Her New Album

When an artist releases an album, they usually add 10 to 15 songs to the official tracklist, but little did fans know how big of a process they had to do to scrap other tracks.

This is probably what happened with Lipa, as she noted, "I have 97 songs." She showed a journal containing all of the lyrics and ideas for the tracks of her songs.

"The amount of time I've spent in the studio, worked with different people, honed in on my craft, and written so many songs, I've also come into a place where I feel really confident in who I am and what I want," she said. (via Rolling Stone)

The singer's voice also improved and "got stronger" because of touring for months, so she believes that she progressed as an artist.

Dua Lipa New Album: What to Expect?

As of this writing, Dua Lipa has yet to announce an official release date for her new album, but she teased her fans about what to expect on the project.

Speaking with T Magazine in August 2023, she revealed that the difference between her old records and the upcoming new one is that it would be "more personal."

Although she clarified that it's still going to revolve around pop music, it will be different sonically because of its lyrical theme.
