What was supposed to be a "sealed" legal dispute between music duo Daryl Hall and John Oates has become known to all because of the pair's telling and damning statements against each other.
"Far from becoming 'adversarial and aggressive instead of professional and courteous,' as Daryl has claimed," Oates said, addressing the feud and lawsuit for the first time
"Over the last 50 years I have always devoted my energy to ensuring that both the public and the music industry perceive the Hall & Oates music and brand in the most positive light," he added.
This comes a week after Hall filed a restraining order against Oates after filing a lawsuit to prevent the latter from selling his stake in their joint venture Whole Oats to Primary Wave.
John Oates Slams Daryl Hall's Claims
According to reports, Oates alleges that it was Hall who became "unwilling" to cooperate in regards to "protect the marks and other intellectual property that [they] spent decades building."
The singer also finally addressed one statement Hall gave during an interview, noting that they are "creative brothers," he also emphasized that they are "business partners."
"[Hall has] consistently and publicly been adamant about being perceived as an individual rather than as part of a duo or group," Oates said.
Meanwhile, Hall accused Oates of "the ultimate betrayal," when he decided the move to sell his stake without "obtaining [Hall's] written approval."
As of this writing, a judge ruled that Oates cannot temporarily sell his share of the joint venture to another party until a private arbitrator reviews their case, Billboard reports.

John Oates' Betrays' Daryl Hall
Prior lawsuit, Hall had been open about his feud with Oates; however, his more recent statements about his music partner caused several eyebrows to raise.
"This recent bad faith conduct by John Oates and the Oates Trust has created tremendous upheaval, harm, and difficulty in my life, not to mention unnecessary expense and burden, during a time when I am in the middle of a tour throughout the U.S. West Coast, Japan, and Manilla and need to focus and perform at top level," Hall said in a statement.
"I believe that John Oates timed the Unauthorized Transaction to create the most harm to me. Respectfully, he must be stopped from this latest wrongdoing and his malicious conduct reined in once and for all."
