Earlier this year, Blur surprised fans as they were able to reunite to release a brand new album, their first in over eight years. However, Damon Albarn recently declared something about the future which made fans shocked; are they taking a break again?

It appeared that the band will go into hiatus again as explained by the frontman in an interview with a French magazine called Les Inrockuptibles, as reported by Far Out Magazine.

He revealed that the group would be wrapping up their current project as he felt overwhelmed by it.

"It is time to wrap up this campaign. It's too much for me. It was the right thing to do and an immense honor to play these songs again, spend time with these guys, make an album, blah-blah-blah," he said. (via Rolling Stone)

Will Blur Break Up For Good?

Although the group will be gone again, this won't be the last time fans will ever see them as Albarn noted that there will be a point in the future when they'll get together again.

"I'm not saying I won't do it again; it was a beautiful success, but I'm not dwelling on the past," he added.

Blur History of Hiatus

Per the outlet, this was not the first time Blur underwent a hiatus as they did it in 2003. They later reunited in 2009 to perform a few shows in the United Kingdom as a part of a reunion tour.

He explained at the time that the band had always been an "effortless, joyous, weightless kind of experience," and even though there were four of us left, nothing had changed since they got together decades ago.

In 2015, they dropped "The Magic Whip" and even though it was a massive success, they went on to take a break following their tour in support of the record. They shortly reunited in March 2019 for a surprise performance in London.

They reunited in 2023 to release the album "The Ballad of the Darren" and even performed on a series of shows.

As of this writing, Damon Albarn has not revealed when the band is coming back after they take a break again.
