Tom Nitti provided more details as to why he decided to leave "The Voice."

In an Instagram post in November, Nitti - who notably started building his music empire by joining "The Voice" Season 24 - confirmed his departure from the show citing "personal reasons." His coach, Reba McEntire, also told the crowd that she only had five artists left after Nitti had to exit.

Tom Nitti Provides Details Behind His "The Voice" Departure

Nitti recently spoke during an interview with the Utica Observer-Dispatch to open up about the situation that led him to make the decision.

According to the former contestant, he always dreamt of pursuing music full-time. However, he reportedly would not be able to do so "without a cushion."

"As a dad, I need to make sure my children will be supported," he said, adding, The biggest misconception is when people think I went on the show knowing that I'd leave."

Previously, Nitti had to leave his children behind as a New York State trooper and former Airborne Cavalry Scout. He was previously deployed to Afghanistan, where he suffered a serious brain injury following a mortar attack, earning him a Purple Heart.

Nitti earned people's praise for his song covers of Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Deliver (I'm Yours)," Cody Johnson's "Til You Can't" and the Temptation's "(I Know) I'm Losing You."

His talent secured a spot on Team Reba, and he became the country singer's six finalists.

Five months before the show, he filed for divorce. He learned that his ex-wife was trying to pursue primary custody of their children, so his lawyers urged him to come home.

The patriarch left "The Voice" "not because I missed my kids, but because I couldn't imagine losing them."

His comment resonated with what he wrote on Instagram after he left.

"As much as it absolutely stings to say, I had to make probably one of the hardest yet easiest decisions ever and ultimately, at the end of the day, my kids will always come first and if I had to make the same decision again I'd do it over and over," he continued.

Nitti declared it was not the end of him and that he would do his best to find a chance to play music while creating new memories with his family.
