Joshua Ray Walker shared his harrowing colon cancer diagnosis and the steps he will be taking to address it, but he also balanced out the bad news with some good by announcing his new song "Thank You For Listening."

"I have been dealing with some health issues this year that have made my quality of life on the road and off pretty brutal lately," the country musician wrote in a lengthy social media post.

"[...] Basically, my doctors have found a localized cancer in my colon, and I will be undergoing surgery to remove part of my colon on January, 3rd," he continued.

"Luckily, we found it early, and it's likely I'll make a full recovery without further treatment. This is great news, but I will need to take a few months off after the surgery to recover."

The health crisis may have been going on for a while now, because back in September, Walker had to cancel several live performances after being diagnosed with appendicitis in October.

According to reports, Walker is releasing a new song titled "Thank You For Listening," which will be included in his upcoming album.

"It is basically a love letter to anyone who's ever supported me in my pursuit of music, even just by lending an ear in passing," he wrote in the same social media post as his cancer diagnosis.

"This song is a brand-new original on a collection of performances by the same name. The additional tracks are acoustic renditions of songs I've previously released."

Walker also hinted that there will be performances that will also be called "Thank You For Listening," he describes his upcoming project as "raw and intimate."

He also promised fans that he would be back to share the upcoming release next year, presumably after his surgery.
