Melanie Martinez is adding a new single to her third studio album, with the release of the "Tunnel Vision" music video; some wonder if this means that she will be ending her "Portals" era soon.

According to Pop Crave, the "Cry Baby" singer surprise dropped a teaser for the upcoming "Tunnel Vision" music video, which will be released on Dec. 19.

The song is from her "Portals" album, which was released earlier this year in March, and yielded three other singles: "Death," "Void," and "Evil."

Melanie Martinez Unveils 'Portals' Album

When Martinez first unveiled her album, two years after the release of her EP "After School" and four years after she dropped her sophomore studio album "K-12," she shocked fans and other audiences.

Gone were her signature bangs, doll-like eyes, and toothy grin; it was replaced by her alter ego, an alien-like creature.

She began teasing the new era with the phrase "RIP Cry Baby," indicating that the previous version of the singer was replaced with a new one.

According to reports, Martinez has always been very creative with expressing her music with an accompanying visual element; "Portals" was no different.

"'Portals' screams death is life is death is life is death is life. A continuous loop. A circle," the singer explained the concept of her new album.

Melanie Martinez Announces Hiatus

Despite the fans' enthusiasm for having Martinez back in the limelight, releasing music, and touring again, the singer dashed their hopes for any upcoming releases in the future.

"After this leg of the tour I will be trying to shoot as many [music videos] as possible," Martinez shared during her appearance on SiriusXM.

"Ideally for me, shooting all 11 of them together in these three months before I go back out on tour would be nice, because then I can take time to edit them and roll them out. That's my plan, I'm hoping to achieve that."

She also explained why she needed a break and that it helped her creativity by resting and taking time off from working.

"I take a long time to create my projects, so I'll usually have four years where I'm just MIA. Not anywhere to be found, just literally at my house making art," she added.

Martinez has a four-year break in between her album cycles: she released "Cry Baby" in 2015, followed by "K-12" in 2019, and finally "Portals" in 2023.
