The rowdy Rhode Island band Deer Tick isn't one to stray away from a cover, and for a six night residency in New York at the end of the year, they'll prove it.
John McCauley and company announced today (Sept. 9) that they will play five classic albums during their time at the Brooklyn Bowl at the end of December to celebrate the band's 10th anniversary. To kick things off, Deer Tick will play their 2007 album War Elephant before they move into NRBQ's Tiddlywinks, Lou Reed's Transformer, The Beatles' Meet The Beatles, Devo's Q: Are We Not Men?, and Elvis Costello's My Aim Is True.
The setlist for their final show on New Year's Eve will be chosen by those in attendance. According to both the band and venue's websites, there will be special guests involved every night of the residency. Tickets for the event go on sale this Friday (Sept. 12), with presale tickets available tomorrow (Sept. 10).
For the past couple years, Deer Tick has held a series of after shows at the Newport Folk Festival called "Deer Tick and Friends." This year the band played with the likes of Joe Pug, Ages and Ages, and T. Hardy Morris. Previous years had the boys sharing a stage with Dawes, Jason Isbell and members of Titus Andronicus.
Deer Tick currently has a few more dates scheduled, with a pretty stellar gig next week alongside The Hold Steady opening for The Replacements. Check out the dates below.
