Three days after talking about how Joan Rivers was memorialized in New York City exactly as she had wanted to be when the day finally arrived, we are now starting to learn more details about what led to her truly untimely death. During that routine endoscopic procedure at the Yorkville Clinic on Aug. 28th the doctor who operated on Joan noticed something on her vocal cords and decided to take a biopsy. Biopsies are only to be done in a hospital setting but apparently this doctor decided to chance it and in doing so he caused Joan's vocal cords to seize which then completely cut off her air supply.

We have already learned that Joan Rivers went into cardiac arrest during the procedure and was transferred out to Mount Sinai Hospital where she never regained consciousness. Sources claim that if the biopsy had been done in a hospital setting then there is a pretty decent chance that she would still be alive. Perhaps this is why Joan's daughter, Melissa Rivers was discussing malpractice issues with those close to the family well over a week ago!

Joan Rivers may have been 81-years old, but by all accounts she was in great shape while performing even the night before her endoscopy. Since details are coming out pretty quickly regarding the circumstances surrounding Joan's death do you think that Melissa is already gearing up for a major lawsuit? While it's good to know that the comedienne never really suffered in this sudden turn of medical events, her friends and family must be crushed to think that her death was somehow connected to incompetence rather than it simply being her time to pass on!
