Selena Gomez Faces Backlash, Criticisms

However, despite the good moments in her career, Gomez also experienced several setbacks this year.

The "Hit The Lights" singer was constantly criticized for "playing the victim" in her alleged feud with Justin Bieber's wife, Hailey.

Netizens claim that the singer has been starting the drama, and leaving Bieber to pick up the pieces.

The newest addition to their "feud" came in several weeks ago when people pointed out that Gomez's Rare Beauty launched a product that looked a lot like Bieber's Rhode Beauty.

Aside from Gomez's alleged beef with Bieber, she also faced terrible backlash over a statement she shared about the Israel-Hamas conflict.

"I wish I could change the world. But a post won't," she wrote in a statement shared on Instagram, which irked netizens.

"Having a sister every day has made me tragically sick. I would do anything for children and innocent lives."

People accused Gomez of being self-centered, and that she was trying to "make it about herself." The singer put down the statement and pledged donations in support of Palestine, but she was criticized once again when people noticed she also donated to a group run by Israelis.
