Alanis Morissette has been around for decades and her album, "Jagged Little Pill," became a part of most millennial's childhood. In addition, this record also gave birth and became an inspiration to a new generation of musicians.

As the record celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, let's take a look back how the album became a culutral impact and how it amassed massive success from loyal fans.

In an interview on the "Today" show, Morissette looked back at the success of her album, and for her, it felt like it only happened recently despite the record being out for over three decades.

"It feels like yesterday, but also it feels like 100 years ago," she said.

Recalling how the album became the iconic project that people knew and loved, the singer said she wrote it when she was only 19 years old.

Alanis Morissette Didn't Expect 'Jagged Little Pill's Success

Her collaborator, Glen Ballard, told her at the time that the album might possibly sell 125,000 copies, and a young Alanis Morissette was shocked by the numbers, but at the same time, she was blown away.

Little did she know, her record will become one of the best-selling albums of all time and it now sold over 33 million copies around the world.

In addition, it had a two-time diamond and 16-time platinum certification. Regarding its success, it won over four Grammy Awards.

Elsewhere in the interview, Morissette admitted that she never anticipated this much success to her album, but she admitted that she had visions back in the days of travelling around the world to perform her songs.

"Blood, sweat, tearing all over this funny planet. So that part I had visions of, but everything else was just pretty surreal... this is what I was born to do," she said. (via Fox Bangor)

Alanis Morissette Had Struggles Before 'Jagged Little Pill' Was Released

Her journey to fame wasn't easy as Alanis Morissette had to overcome several problems first before amassing the success of her third album, "Jagged Little Pill."

Per the outlet, the singer dropped her first album titled "Alanis" in 1991, it went platinum in Canada which led her to release a second album titled "Now Is the Time."

Unfortunately, her sophomore project didn't earn as much as the first one, which led to her record label, MCA Records Canada, to not re-sign her following their two-album contract.

The musician later moved to Toronto, then traveled to Los Angeles in California to work on new songs, that's when "Jagged Little Pill" started coming together after she was introduced to Glen Ballard.
