Rascal Flatts member Joe Don Rooney previously came back to social media after being inactive for months. More recently, the musician constantly shares his story to inspire other people, and now, he's celebrating his 28 months of sobriety.

Taking to X over the weekend, the singer first asked his followers how they then proceeded to share his feelings, writing, "I'm having a wonderful morning and I think today is going to be a great day."

He further shared more information about his sobriety journey, saying the quote "one day at a time" is often used whenever he goes on AA.

"That's the AA way. And not only for alcoholics like myself - but the steps and the guard rails of the AA way, can be beneficial to anyone seeking to live a more spirit filled, God lead life," he added.

Rooney shared that he's living that day because "today is all I really have" as the past and future are all a fantasy to him.

"So, I'm gonna try and have conscious contact with God's light, love and grace as much as my finite brain can today - and I'm gonna live for this 24 hours with all I have," he added.

Joe Don Rooney Clarifies False Rumors About Him

The recent news comes weeks after the singer came back on social media to share what happened to him over the past few months as he had been inactive.

He first apologized for being inactive and not replying to the posts of his fans.

Since everyone just welcomed 2024, Rooney said he wanted to start fresh and get his message across to those who had been curious about where he had been.

The singer further explained that he's "healthy and ready for the world" and that he was not transitioning to be a woman as it never entered his mind.

Although he clarified that he had nothing against the trans community, he just wanted to clear things up.

Joe Don Rooney Now Sober

He revealed that he almost died in 2021 when he "ran square into a tree" and the reason why he got there in the first place was because he was drunk and "far gone with my life."

Rooney said he was out of control and there were a lot of pressures in his career that made him not a good person at home to his children and wife.

Fortunately, the singer was able to get himself out of the dark path and helped himself become a better person.
