• Grammys 2015 Best Dance/Electronic Album, Who Should & Will Win: Aphex Twin Completes Comeback

    Entering its 11th year, the Best Dance/Electronic Album category has an interesting group of nominees. Past winners have included everyone from Madonna to Daft Punk -- Bassment Jaxx to Skrillex and this year provides a varied group of five newcomers, veterans and comeback kings. It appears to be a two-horse race, but when it comes to the Grammys selecting a genre they aren't very familiar with, you never know for certain what they might do.

    Bringing in featured talent for a country tune has increased in popularity over the past few years. This year's nominees in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category are split between solid solo acts calling in their buddies and groups that conquered the charts with no assistance. Keith Urban and Eric Church collaborated on "Raise 'Em Up" while Tim McGraw brought in his wife, Faith Hill, for "Meanwhile Back at Mama's." Then there's the power duo of Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood on "Somethin' Bad." But the two big contenders here are Little Big Town and The Band Perry.

    The world was pleasantly surprised to find out yesterday that Harper Lee, the Pulitzer Prize winning author of To Kill A Mockingbird, would finally be publishing her second book during 2015 after years of hiding from the spotlight. The new title, Go Set A Watchman, was actually written before Mockingbird yet is set 20 years following the events of her published book. It should be noted that Lee is not in the best of health, and some allege that publisher HarperCollins may have swooped in following the death of her sister and lawyer Alice Lee and taken advantage of the situation. We hope for the best, like what happened with the seven albums listed below, which were critical smashes when performers such as David Bowie, D'Angelo and Sade released them after decade-long spans.

    The Best Rock Album category isn't normally a big deal at the Grammys, which is really a celebration of everything pop. This year is a different story, though. U2 is up for the award thanks to their September release, Songs of Innocence, or better known as That One They Gave Away for Free. The Irish band caught a fair amount of criticism from iTunes users and fellow musicians when the album magically appeared in their digital libraries. That will be the big storyline going into Sunday for the Rock Album category rather than the fact that Ryan Adams, Beck, The Black Keys and Tom Petty all had spectacular titles to their credit in 2014.

This category, which goes to the songwriters of one of country music's big hits of the last year, is filled with some stunning music this year, courtesy of a genre great (Glen Campbell) and some of the most established artists in the biz today (Kenny Chesney, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Eric Church). So, how to decide who deserves to win?

Sia's "Chandelier" is one of the only pop songs that instead of getting really old after a while actually gets better with time. Every new performance seems to bring out more layers. It's a truly powerful song that will stand the test of time. The range of notes Sia hits and the texture of her sound blows the other nominees out of the water. This song is also up for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Music Video, but Sia shines especially bright in this performance category. You can hear the pain in her voice, you can feel her struggle.

Oh, and let's not forget the newcomer (Hunter Hayes) who's representing with his equal parts heartbreaking, encouraging ballad, "Invisible."

Although we don't predict G I R L winning Album of the Year, the effort could fare well in the Urban Contemporary department, which in its third year as a category celebrates albums that include "the more contemporary elements of R&B and may incorporate production elements found in urban pop, urban Euro-pop, urban rock, and urban alternative." Pharrell is the face of contemporary production, and his latest effort splashes pop, funk, and dance onto its R&B canvas. The album also features heavyweight contributors Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Daft Punk and Miley Cyrus, adding to its mainstream appeal.

Pop artists like Cher, Jent Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears have dominated the category over producer, DJs like Moby, Fatboy Slim, Justice, Daft Punk and Bassment Jaxx who have been snubbed by songs like Baha Men "Who Let The Dogs Out." 2015 hold promise as the Grammy committee decided to make up their past transgressions and shocked the world with a surprising and deserving batch of nominees.
