Buzz 08:46AM EDT

'Fun Home,' 'The Curious Incident of The Dog in The Night Time' and 'The King and I' were among the big winners at last night's Tony Awards, taking home prizes for the best theatre in New York. The first of those plays, which won the night's "big" big award for Best Musical, was the first in the history of the show to win that prize and be written entirely by women. Jeanine Tesori and Lisa Kron wrote the hit, which focuses on a daughter and an in-the-closet father dealing with their homosexuality, also focusing on the funeral home they run.READ MORE

Twenty One Pilots, Zedd, Jamie Foxx and Faith No More Debut in Albums Chart Top 10

Buzz 09:14AM EDT

Twenty One Pilots had never sold more than 11,000 copies of an album in one week prior to the release of Blurryface last week, but that record didn't need streaming to top the Billboard 200. It also comes in at no. 1 on the albums chart, selling 134,000 copies (more than 91 percent of the album's Billboard 200 total came from actual album sales).READ MORE

'Pitch Perfect 2' Soundtrack Sales Up, Snoop Dogg 'Bush' Numbers Down

Buzz 09:54AM EDT

'Pitch Perfect 2' might not have a "Cups" yet (technically Anna Kendrick does perform her song on the new soundtrack but it's not a Hot 100 smash anymore) but it still managed something that the previous film's song collection didn't: topping the albums charts. The record, boosted by medleys featuring dozens of hit songs, won the sales battle this week by moving 91,000 copies.READ MORE

The original film's soundtrack peaked at no. 3 on the Billboard 200, although its single "Cups" was a smash on the download charts. Mumford & Sons Drops, Tech N9ne Sets Personal Record on Albums Chart

Buzz 09:16AM EDT

This week Warner Music became the first major label to report higher earnings from streaming than digital downloads, but album sales seem to be doing alright for Mumford & Sons, which tops the sales chart by selling 249,000 copies of 'Wilder Mind' this week. That's a sizable number but more than a 50 percent drop off from the band's previous album, 'Babel,' which debuted with 600,000 copies sold (the biggest rock debut of the decade thus far, in the band's defense).READ MORE

Mumford & Sons Top Billboard 200, 'Fifty Shades' Gets Mother's Day Boost

Buzz 11:55AM EDT

Mumford & Sons remains a rock band to beat on the Billboard 200, gathering its second no. 1 record with Wilder Mind. Although the band's original alternative fan base has raised an eyebrow at the use of electric guitars on the new set, sales still came out to 249,000-trailing only Drake and Kendrick Lamar for biggest debut of 2015 thus far. Although nothing to frown at, it's still a relatively low sales figure for Mumford, which sold 600,000 copies of Babel when that album dropped during 2012.READ MORE

The band has also been busy away from album sales, topping both the Country Airplay Chart and the Mainstream Rock Songs charts with different songs from the album. Jamie Foxx and More: Ranking 2015's National Anthems at Sporting Events

Buzz 19:24PM EDT

We had a realization while watching the Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacquiao fight last night: Amid all the spectacle at the "fight of the century," the rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" turned in by Jamie Foxx was somewhat a spectacle unto itself. In fact, our national anthem can easily be converted into an overwrought piece of showmanship when handled awkwardly, and nowhere is it handled more awkwardly than at major sporting events. We decided to look at seven versions of the national anthem—from Josh Groban to Queen Latifah—from seven of the largest sporting events so far during 2015 and rank them for both talent and sincerity.READ MORE
