  • Beyonce top charts third straight week, One Direction goes platinum, 'Frozen' soundtrack sets mark

Last week was the last for musicians to make a statement on the charts for 2013, and at least four albums left a mark during the closing moments of the year. Let's start with the notable accomplishers.
  • A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera top Digital Downloads charts for second week

The end of the year didn't bring any new albums to the Billboard 200 Top 10 this week, and the Top 10 of the Digital Downloads charts didn't bring too many fresh faces either.
  • Beyoncé, Garth Brooks, One Direction top Billboard 200 amidst no significant releases

The year is coming to a close, and that means you shouldn't expect too many new releases coming down the pipe. This week's Top 10 of the Billboard 200 didn't have any new entries, so expect to see some familiar names.
  • Beyoncé zeitgeist leads to top of Billboard 200; Garth Brooks, Kelly Clarkson, R. Kelly place

Beyoncé's new album was totally unannounced, plus it came out on Thursday versus the traditional Tuesday release, plus it was only available on iTunes, so there's no way that it could have made a big Billboard 200 impact, right? HA.
  • John Mayer, Katy Perry release 'Who You Love' music video featuring plenty of bull riding [WATCH]

John Mayer and Katy Perry are not afraid of showing off their relationship a little bit. Today (Dec. 17), the musical couple stopped by Good Morning America to debut the music video for their first official duet "Who You Love," and the official visual is (luckily) not as cheesy as one would expect it to be.
  • Beyoncé new album set to debut at No. 1 with best sales for female artist in 2013... in just three days

Surprise! (Except not really...) Beyoncé's new album, a self-titled record that dropped by total surprise on Friday (Dec. 13) at midnight is heading for a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 this week.
  • Madonna is the top earning woman in music with Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Beyoncé in the top three.

And the top-earning woman in music is .... Madonna. According to Forbes' 2013 list, the singer pulled in $125 million this year. The bulk of her payday came from the final leg of her MDNA Tour, which grossed $305 million overall. According to Rolling Stone, she supplemented her income with merchandise sales, her Material Girl clothing line and her "Truth or Dare" fragrance.
  • Pitbull and Ke$ha beat Eminem and Rihanna for Digital Downloads in slow sales week

For some odd reason, Christmas singles don't sell. Although the Billboard 200 was full of suddenly-popular CD's containing boatloads of "chestnuts," the Digital Downloads Top 10 didn't reflect the same. Which isn't to say that popular music downloads did particularly well either.
  • Garth Brooks tops Billboard 200 after tour announcement, One Direction stays strong, Britney Spears debuts weak

Album sales were down from last week, but last week's totals included Black Friday, so it was bound to happen. That doesn't mean Black Friday's stars were ready to give up their spots on the Top 10 however.
  • Grammys Nominations Program includes performances from Lorde, Macklemore, Katy Perry and more

As 2013 comes to a close, the best of music 2013 is coming ever nearer. Tonight (Dec. 6), many of music's biggest stars gathered in Los Angeles for the sixth Grammys Nominations concert. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Taylor Swift, Lorde and more performed to help bring in the biggest night in music.
  • Pitbull and Ke$ha take top Digital Downloads spot with 'Timber,' followed tightly by Eminem's 'The Monster

For once, the album sales for the previous week made more headlines than the digital downloads, but that doesn't mean that singles are doing badly at all. In fact, after just declaring last week that Eminem's "The Monster" could hold down the top spot for weeks to come, a new track took its place.
  • One Direction wins Black Friday album sales race, Eminem and Garth Brooks place high, Katy Perry returns

We've been real downers for the last couple months with regards to album sales. If you haven't read the news, music sales are down across nearly every format (aside from vinyl), and this has reflected in new releases too, even with some of the biggest stars. What the industry needed was a good Black Friday to boost sales. And boost did it ever.
