Rock legends, Lynyrd Skynyrd, have toured heavily for the past five months, playing dates throughout Canada, the UK and the U.S, and their current string of dates will wrap up for the band on September 4 on the Alton riverfront according to The Teelgraph. The band is slotted to play noteworthy dates in August, including a stop at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, New York. Tickets for the band's remaining summer shows are on sale averaging just over $100. The current lineup features original band member Gary Rossington, joined by Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke, Mark "Sparky" Matejka, Michael Cartellone, Johnny Colt, Peter Keys, Dale Krantz Rossington and Carol Chase. -

Robert Burns Jr. Dead in Car Crash as Lynyrd Skynrd's Original Lineup Remains Jinxed
The original drummer for rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd, Robert Burns. Jr., has died in a car accident, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Georgia State Patrol said that the musician's vehicle left the road and struck a mailbox and tree. It's believed he was killed instantly, although the event remains under investigation. He was 64. -

The good people at Red Frog Events, who put on the Firefly Festival every year, are getting a little country in 2015. The company announced the Big Barrel Country Music Festival today, Dec. 18, which will be held at Firefly's site, Dover International Speedway in Delaware. Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert will headline the event scheduled for June 26 to 28 — the weekend after Firefly. Tickets go on sale today, "Billboard" notes. For a three-day pass ($99), concert-goers will be able to see a mix of popular country artists and acts on the fringes of the genre, like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sturgill Simpson and Hurray for the Riff Raff. Legends like Loretta Lynn and Merle Haggard will also perform. Lynyrd Skynyrd's First Six Albums to Be Reissued on Vinyl for Specialty Box Set
One of the greatest Southern rock bands of all time, Lynyrd Skynyrd, will be reissuing its first six albums on vinyl. The box set, out Jan. 26, will include albums from 1973 to 1977 like the group's seminal debut "Pronounced 'Leh-'nerd 'Skin-'nerd." Hits like "Simple Man," Gimme Three Steps" and "Freebird" will all be included on the reissues. -
