• Geraldo Rivera: NBC Has No Intention of Bringing Back Brian Williams

    Leave it to Geraldo Rivera to make real sense out of the scandal swirling around Brian Williams. NBC suspended their top anchor for six months for embellishing at least one major news story. Unfortunately, Williams seemed to find it necessary to make himself a bit of a hero within his own reporting rather than just telling it like it was, and unfortunately that kind of flaw is fatal in the news business. Rivera believes the network basically offered up a "death penalty" to Williams's career without actually firing him, and therefore has no intention of bringing him back.

  • Adrian Peterson Sues NFL, Reportedly Promised 2-Game Suspension

    Adrian Peterson may be thinking about quitting football in favor of the Olympics, but he swung a mighty punch at the National Football League Monday, Dec. 15, when the NFL Players Association filed a lawsuit against the league on behalf of Peterson. According to ESPN, the suit challenges arbitrator Harold Henderson's decision to uphold Peterson's suspension last week and calls said decision "biased, unfair and contrary to the collective bargaining agreement." Much of the controversy centers around a phone conversation between Peterson and NFL Executive Vice President Troy Vincent, who allegedly promised a shorter suspension than the year-long one Peterson is currently enduring. "Sports Illustrated" reported the leaked tape and transcribed the following bit of dialogue from the Nov. 12 discussion: "In the recording, Peterson asks Vincent whether he will get a two-game suspension. "Vincent replies, Yeah.' "Peterson: It will be two additional games — not time served? "Vincent: No, no, no, no, no, no. It won't ... the one this weekend. So really it's next weekend. You will be back."

  • Ray Rice Hit NYC Clubs to Celebrate His Lifted NFL Suspension

    Last Friday, Nov. 28, Ray Rice's suspension from the NFL was lifted on an appeal, and apparently he was in the mood to celebrate. Rice was spotted hitting up Bounce Sporting Club in New York City late Saturday night. The fallen NFL star stayed chatting and chilling with fans until the wee hours of Sunday morning. According to a TMZ report, security attempted to keep the fans from bothering Rice, but he was loving the attention. Rumor has it his wife Janay Rice was also with him, but that has yet to be confirmed. We can tell you with certainty that Janay's interview with "Today's" Matt Lauer these past two days has been seen in part by nearly everyone. This morning's installment included Ray taking part in the interview while standing at a kitchen counter with Janay and her parents. He, of course, apologized for knocking his wife out last February in Atlantic City after a night of hard partying. He believes that therapy has really helped him and claims he is ready to sacrifice whatever is necessary to take care of his wife.

  • Ray Rice's Suspension from NFL Lifted as 'Today' Prepares to Air Interview with Janay Palmer Rice Next Week

    Ray Rice finally won the war to preserve his career on Friday, and his suspension from the NFL has been lifted, effective immediately. That means that if Rice can find a team willing to sign his this late in the season he may actually get some play time in before the next Super Bowl. Back in early September an elevator surveillance video was released that showed Rice knocking his now-wife, Janay Palmer, out cold with one punch, then dragging her off the elevator. He was handed an indefinite suspension after NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell seemed to barely offer up a slap on the wrist last spring.

  • CNN's Don Lemon Puts Foot in Mouth Again While Reporting from Ferguson

    CNN's Don Lemon has been having a really rough time lately, and it basically has been his own doing. Last week he caught some major backlash after insinuating to Joan Tarshis, one of Bill Cosby's rape accusers, that she could have bit him to prevent the alleged assault. Now his reporting from Ferguson, Missouri, has also come under fire. Shortly after it was announced that Darren Wilson would not be indicted for fatally shooting 18-year-old Michael Brown, CNN's reporters were taking turns updating viewers at home on what was unfolding in front of them. Lemon and Anderson Cooper were discussing the chaos, and Lemon said that protestors were jumping on cars and he heard gunshots off in the distance. Then after a pause, Lemon followed up that assessment with: "Obviously, there's a smell of marijuana in the air." That detail was not obvious to anyone else, it seemed, as the rest of CNN's crew was too busy running for cover from tear gas and smoke bombs to notice any potential pot in the air. Once again, Twitter lit up with backlash against Lemon because he just cannot seem to keep from making insensitive comments on live television.

  • NFL May Have to Reinstate Ray Rice in November after Final Appeal Hearing

    It looks like Ray Rice could be back in NFL action within just a few short weeks. Rice was suspended indefinitely at the start of the current season by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell after that now-infamous elevator security tape was released showing Rice knocking out Janay Palmer with one punch. The general public was outraged to learn Rice was originally punished with just a two-game suspension and Goodell had to act quickly to try and save face, so he threw the proverbial book at Rice. A final appeal hearing is scheduled for mid-November, and it could easily swing in Rice's favor.
