A major character died in the latest episode of “Outlander” Season 3 titled “All Debts Paid.” Fans said goodbye to Frank Randall, played by Tobias Menzies, in a heartbreaking manner. Before he died in a car crash, he and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) had a nasty fight where he asked for a divorce.

When Frank and Claire reunited in the new season of “Outlander,” they agreed to have an open marriage reports TV Line. He began seeing other women but it turned out that after two decades of doing this, Frank came to a point where he wanted a real marriage. Unfortunately, he died before experiencing this.

In the said “Outlander” episode, Claire broke down upon seeing Frank’s body in the hospital and said that she did love him very much according to Variety. She promised, "You got my first love.” But, how will Frank’s death affect Claire moving forward.

Balfe thinks that since her character has some sort of repression this season that viewers haven’t really seen before. Claire has to close off a side of herself which makes her not as sympathetic as she was before. So when Frank dies, Balfe said that “it's almost as if she's not capable of those depths of feeling that she used to be because she's had to build up this wall around her heart so much.”

As to the question if that was the last time viewers have seen of Frank, Menzies said that it is. The actor said that the biggest thing he can take away from the show is the friends that he made in the show.

EP Ron Moore on the other hand teased that although Menzies will not be indeed back in “Outlander” Season 3, they can always use flashbacks or dream sequences in order to bring him back. They are open to the possibility even if there is nothing planned at the moment.
