Miley Cyrus has been in the music industry for so long, and she has consistently released music, but why does she only have two No. 1 songs on the charts?

According to Billboard, Cyrus' last hit song which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 was her highly-controversial song "Wrecking Ball," released in 2013.

The song was dedicated to her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. To say she had a rocky relationship with the actor is an understatement, since they got together, Cyrus has released numerous songs about him-some put him in a better light than others.

10 years later, the 30-year-old is back on top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her newest single "Flowers," ironically, this song is also dedicated to Hemsworth.

Although she has definitely enjoyed some songs entering the charts since "Wrecking Ball," they fell short and did not peak as high.

In fact, only two of her songs entered the Hot 100 chart since then: her remix with The Kid LAROI's "Without You," which peaked at No. 8 in 2021 and "Malibu," which peaked at No. 10 in 2018.

Some of the Billboard staff even discussed among themselves on how they felt about Cyrus' late milestone.

"Justice for 'Plastic Hearts'! I can't believe 'Midnight Sky' wasn't a No. 1 hit, or at least in the top five. Miley hasn't stopped giving us hits, and I'm glad everyone else sees that now," said Rania Aniftos.

Another staffer, Katie Atkinson, cited all of the singer's past releases that failed to peak at No. 1, "Perhaps all of those (excellent) music moments from Miley over the past five years set the table for her to finally be back on top, where she clearly belongs."

One of the biggest determining factors in whether a song will enter the Billboard Hot 100 is the number of streams.

Unlike "Wrecking Ball" and "Flowers," Cyrus' other songs simply did not go as viral as the aforementioned songs.

With the help of social media, "Flowers" skyrocketed and took over the charts. It is one of the most played songs on the video-sharing platform TikTok, thanks to the theories fans came up with.

Released in Jan. 13, on Hemsworth's birthday, the singer was obviously making sure that everyone knew to who the song is dedicated, which only spurred the rumors and theories surrounding each lyrics and every part of the music video-from the Bruno Mars' "When I Was You Man" theory to the golden dress theory.

Of course, all of these theories remain unconfirmed, as Cyrus is actually yet to talk about any of that. However, her older sister Brandi shared her insights on "Flowers."

The song did come out on his birthday - was that on purpose? I don't know, can't say. Genius, though."
