  • King Krule drops Hitchcock-inspired video for 'A Lizard State' [WATCH]

    King Krule, one of Music Times' favorite artists of 2013, has released his latest music video for his track "A Lizard State" off last year's 6 Feet Beneath The Moon. The Jamie-James Medina-directed video pays tribute to Alfred Hitchcock's 1954 film Dial M For Murder and even got the go-ahead from Hitchcock's estate.
  • Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst denies sexual assault claim

    On December 17th a post ran on xoJane.com entitled "I Dated a Famous Rockstar and All I Got Was Punched in the Face." Part of the "It Happened to Me" series, the anonymous writer has a detailed recount of her alleged relationship with Bright Eyes' front man Conor Oberst. The post has been reblogged on Tumblr and from there spread like wildfire, causing Oberst and his team to release a statement to AbsolutePunk.net.

    Most musicians make most of their money by touring and playing live. Unless you're a big name, recording alone isn't going to put food on the table. Waiting for royalties to come in from downloads and leasing your music out is an even less stable way to earn a buck. Sting can get by with his earnings from recording, but as a story on CelebrityNetWorth.com shows, the former Police bassist ain't doing bad from royalties either. Specifically, royalties from classic "Every Breath You Take." According to the site, the bassist/vocalist makes nearly $2,000 a day from the single's royalties.

    If you want to name a virtual joke after Kanye West, be warned: the rapper does not take his name and likeness lightly. Last week, Music Times reported that a new cryptocurrency, Coinye West was set to launch Jan. 11. Instead of being flattered that the Internet money would be named after him, Yeezus himself has issued Coinye West's creators a cease-and-desist letter.
  • Paul Simon tribute concert set for New York in March featuring The Civil Wars' Joy Williams and Bob Mould

    On March 31, the tenth installment of the tribute series thrown by City Winery owner Michael Dorf will honor Paul Simon at New York City's Carnegie Hall. Dorf has put on the event over the previous nine years to raise money for music education.
