Tainy is finally emerging from the shadows as someone who works as a collaborator for some of the biggest stars in the music industry like Bad Bunny, Cardi B, J Balvin, and more.

Tainy is no stranger to the Recording Academy, but with "Data" getting nominated for Best Musica Urbana album at the 2024 Grammy Awards, he is shocked and honored.

"It is crazy. Everything has changed so much. When I started, this wasn't in my possibilities of something that could happen because I come from Puerto Rico," the 34-year-old musician told People Magazine.

The Peurto Rican songwriter and producer struck out on his own as a solo artist with the release of his debut studio album, "Data," released June 29, 2023, via his record label Neon16.

"What you probably would aim for would be the Latin Grammys, and that's even stretch."

Tainy Cites Inspiration, Influences For 'Data'

Tainy has been in the music industry for over a decade, working for chart-topping hits for other artists, and this is the first time he is finally getting recognized as a soloist.

"When I started doing music, the people I admired growing up, that's what they used to do," the musician said, noting that he has made friends and collaborated with some of the biggest stars in Latin music like Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, Wisin & Yandel, Julieta Venegas, and more.

According to reports, Tainy was heavily influenced by the music of the artists who went before him and alongside him.

"All these amazing producers would do their own albums and everyone would just hop on and try to do the best track possible.

To me, as soon as I became a fan of music and beats, that inspired me so much. I came into the game getting opportunities and working with these artists, and as the genre evolved, those albums didn't happen anymore. Music changed so much."

Tainy Earns Grammy Nomination

While Tainy's "Data" lost to Karol G's Mañana Será Bonito, he still considers the nomination a win in itself.

In fact, the album was a win already. "It's special. I've been working for a while," Tainy explained.

"I'm still growing, I'm still a student of what I do. There's a lot of things I want to keep on tapping and trying, just give myself a shot and see what happens."
