"Friendly Fire" was a never-before-heard track from the band and it features the vocals of their late member Chester Bennington. It was previously reported in 2020 that the song was finished and mixed, but it wasn't able to make it to the final cut of their album. (via Loudwire)

Finally, after years of waiting, Linkin Park just confirmed that the song will be available for streaming on major music platforms like Apple Music and Spotify starting on Friday, February 23, 2024.

Linkin Park Not Creating New Music

In 2022, Linkin Park member Mike Shinoda revealed that the band was not working on new music nor had plans to go on tour, but he clarified that he kept in touch with his bandmates.

"The only Linkin Park news that I have for you is that ... yeah, we talk every few weeks... There's no tours, there's no music, there's no albums in the pipeline. Let me just tell you that. Just keep in your minds that that is not happening. I'm just gonna say that much for now," he said.

He added that whenever a group does anything, people would start to hype up something and he wanted fans to not do it because they're only disappointing themselves.

Two years prior, he spoke about "Friendly Fire" and he confirmed that it was mixed and finished and it was one of the tracks they thought of adding to the final cut or be used for a B-side.

Chester Bennington Death

The world of music was shocked when news about Chester Bennington's death circulated. The Linkin Park frontman was found dead at his home in California. He reportedly took his own life.

The musician has struggled with mental health issues for years, but regardless, he was still able to put on a positive outlook even though he's struggling on the inside.

Nearly a year after his death, his wife spoke in an interview where she revealed that her husband seemed happy and well days before his death as they still went on a family vacation.

"This was not a time where we or any of our family suspected this to happen, which is terrifying. ... We thought everything was OK," she said. (via CNN)
