After weeks of shutting the world in after her embarrassing drunken moment, Elle King is finally opening up about that harrowing encounter during the Dolly Parton tribute performance.

Parton has since talked about the incident and has been entirely sympathetic toward King's initial apology.

Elle King Apology On Drunk Dolly Parton Tribute

Taking to Instagram, Elle King has finally opened up on the backlash she experienced after her drunken tribute performance at the Grand Ole Opry on Jan. 19, 2024.

"Oh no was my human showing," King posted on her Instagram. To everyone showing me love because I'm human and already talked to Dolly: I love you. To everyone who told me to k*ll myself: I love you too."

King posted a video of her running up a stairway in an arena, showing she's in excellent shape amid the "hammered" moment.

Since the encounter resulted in an intense backlash and scrutiny amid her performance, she has postponed her January and February concerts.

King has also discussed the controversy multiple times over the past few weeks. She even joked about and referenced it in her No. 1 duet with Miranda Lambert, "Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home)."

Earlier this week, she also posted a photo of her in a fetal position - "Ppl being mean in my DMs think I'm sitting like this.... when I'm really sitting like this."

Variety noted that the country singer seemed to take the "unabashed, not bowed" route of apologies.

Elle King Drunk While Giving Dolly Parton Tribute

Elle King was intoxicated when she sang at The Grand Ole Opry in honor of Dolly Parton's 74th Birthday.

In a video of Elle King, she was definitely in over her head when she addressed the crowd, admitting she doesn't even know the lyrics on Parton's 2001 hit "Marry Me."

"I don't know the lyrics to these things in this f - - king town," King said, "Don't tell Dolly 'cause it's her birthday."

According to The New York Post, King started addressing the crowd, who seemed not to like her behavior.

"You spent money for this s - - t," King said. "You ain't getting your money back. "I'll tell you one thing more: 'Hi, my name is Elle King [and] I'm f - - king hammered.'"

"I can barely play another person's song, let me see if I can play one of mine," King admitted.

Meanwhile, Parton has since addressed Elle King's drunken moment.

"She just had a little too much to drink, so let's just forgive that and forget it and move on, 'cause she felt worse than anyone ever could," she told ExtraTV.
