Elle King is currently receiving negative reactions from online users on social media after her drunken performance at Grand Ole Opry as a tribute to Dolly Parton for her birthday.

More recently, the country legend's sister, Stella Parton, spoke out about the matter and expressed her thoughts about the incident.

Stella took to her official X account to share her reaction over the matter. She began by saying that she never got the chance to watch or hear the birthday tribute to her big sister over the weekend, but she's aware of the news about Elle King.

"some lil girl by the name of Elle King apparently cussed and insulted some of Dolly's fans by not knowing a song. She did admit to being 'hammered' her word not mine," she wrote.

Dolly's sister further added that it wasn't the first time a "Hillbilly" took the stage of the Opry while drunk.

Dolly Parton's Sister Thinks Elle King Call-Out Was Double Standards

Stella further noted that Elle King's performance was called out due to double standards because there have been men who were also drunk before.

"I guess it's ok if you're a male but good lord don't ever let a girl behave that way folks! Double f****** standard if ya ask me. So the Opry is apologizing! Lol," she added.

She concluded her thread of posts by writing, "To any lil ego thinking they can learn the lyrics correctly with a half assed listen to one of Dolly's song. Surprise! You'll end up looking as silly as that lil girl. Do your homework people. Memorize the lyrics to Jolene or COMC. My sister loves words. A brilliant word smith."

What Happened to Elle King's Performance?

Elle King was one of the musicians included in the official lineup to pay tribute to Dolly Parton on her 74th birthday.

The event was held at the iconic country music venue, The Grand Ole Opry.

When Elle King took the stage, the musician appeared to be drunk and even admitted that she didn't know the words of Dolly's song "Mary Me."

She went on to continue her drunken tactics and told the crowd that they are not getting their money back after paying for the concert.

She also admitted that she was "hammered" during the performance.

Following this, Elle received negative comments on social media to the point that the Grand Ole Opry also issued an apology about the matter.
