Neil Sedaka has turned 85 today; although he no longer releases new music, the chart-topping singer-songwriter is still one of America's most prolific and successful hitmakers.

He rose to prominence following the 1958 release of his classic international hit, "Oh! Carol;" the song peaked at No. 1 in several countries, including Argentina, Brazil, the Netherlands, and Belgium.

Sedaka also dropped other chart-topping hits like "Calendar Girl" in 1960 and "Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen" in 1961.

In fact, the songs were such a hit that the singer-songwriter continues to perform the two songs to this day.

According to U Discover Music, Sedaka has made several appearances and performances of his songs in his Sirius XM 50s Gold show "In They Key of Neil."

Sedaka has enjoyed over 60 years in the music industry. While he has released several compilations and different versions of his previously released music, he has not released anything new in recent years.

He has a reported net worth of $300 million, which has been accumulated from his music career.

Reports say that in addition to his successful career, the singer-songwriter is also known for his philanthropic works, noting that Sedaka has donated to charities over the years.

Neil Sedaka's Biggest Hits

Sedaka's discography is impressive, and several of his releases peaked at No. 1 on the music charts in America and the rest of the world.

"One Way Ticket to the Blues" is a beloved song in Japan. It dominated the charts in 1960.

"Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" topped the music charts Canada and the US Adult Contemporary in 1962 and earned Sedaka a Grammy win for Song of the Year and a nomination for Best R&B Performance.

"Laughter in the Rain" and "The Immigrant" hit No. 1 on the US Adult Contemporary chart in 1974 and 1975, respectively.

"Bad Blood," released in 1975, was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance.

Aside from being a singer and songwriter, Sedaka dabbled in acting; his debut role was in the "Playgirl Killer," which premiered in 1968.

Meanwhile, he appeared on several television shows as a musical performer, such as "The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour," "Saturday Night Live," "The Carol Burnett Show," and "The Toni Tennille Show."

As of this writing, Sedaka is yet to share information about upcoming music or a tour.
