Looking back on her relationship with Elvis Presley, Priscilla Presley recalls how "every girl went after him."

She made that painful realization after discovering a letter that proved Elvis was cheating on her.

How he reacted can be described tasteless in today's standards, for sure.

Priscilla Presley Caught Elvis Cheating

At the An Evening with Priscilla Presley event on Saturday at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, Connecticut, the 78-year-old actress talked about some of the good points and challenging parts of her relationship with Elvis.

"Whether he was going on tour or going to Palm Springs or Vegas, obviously I know there are other things going on as well," Priscilla remarked at the function.

She then revealed that she had found a letter sent to Elvis in their mailbox, which talked about how they had "the best time" together while he was traveling.

She said that letter hurt her no bounds.

"When I found that letter, it just ate me up," she explained. Priscilla and Elvis were married to from 1967 to 1973.

"I just couldn't let it go so I called Elvis in Vegas, [road manager] Joe Esposito answered the phone and I said 'Joe, I need to talk to Elvis please'. He said 'He's sleeping, what do you need? Is everything OK?' I said 'No, not really. I just really need to talk to him.'"

After Priscilla told Esposito about the painful letter she discovered, Elvis eventually called back.

Instead of saying sorry, he asked if she was "snooping" on him, to which she replied: "No, I just opened up the mailbox and there were these letters in there."

Elvis Presley a Man With a Big Heart

She said this confrontation was the start of all her suspicions that Elvis was not doing right by her.

"That was the beginning," she said. "He wasn't happy about that, but I wasn't happy either. That made me realize that things go on. Listen, there was him and four or five of his guys who were always together, so they're men, right? And they were all married and they were all fooling around."

Priscilla said she realized that all the opportunities were there all the time. She clarified that even though she realized this, she still loved Elvis Presley at the time.

She described him as a wonderful man with a big heart, but unfortunately, being Elvis Presley meant there were simply too many other girls wanting to be with him too and making offers he cannot refuse.

"He had a big heart, but, unfortunately, he was Elvis Presley and every woman, every girl went after him. I can see being him, how he would take it," she said.

The actress went on to add that Elvis had warned her that she would be photographed with "a lot of girls" and that they would be reported as his partners by the press. "He was a little upset and I said, 'I got it,' " she continued.

A little later in Priscilla's conversation with Foxwoods vice president of entertainment Christian Printup, she talked about her initial thoughts on Elvis, whom she was advised not to watch on TV because he was "vulgar and disgusting."

Despite this, she said she would still watch him perform on The Ed Sullivan Show by way of the "crack of a door."
