Artificial Intelligence in music has been widely debated among artists, music industry professionals, and fans. While many are interested in welcoming such advanced technology in crafting new melodies and integrating artificial Intelligence in recording, some are still opposed to it.

Several artists have signed an open letter rallying support for the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in the music industry.

Artists Rights Alliance's Open Letter to AI Creators

The Artists Rights Alliance is an organization committed to fighting a healthy creative economy and fair treatment for all creators in the digital world. It is composed of working musicians, performers, and songwriters in the United States.

According to their website, the alliance works to defend and protect artists, guided by their Artists' Bill of Rights, which outlines fundamental principles for today's music economy.

In a published petition against AI music-generated technology, megawatt A-listers in the music industry like Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, Billie Eilish, and Miranda Lambert have signed an open letter urging creators to practice using the technology responsibly.

"We, the undersigned members of the artist and songwriting communities, call on AI developers, technology companies, platforms and digital music services to cease the use of artificial intelligence to infringe upon and devalue the rights of human artists," the letter wrote. "Make no mistake: we believe that, when used responsibly, AI has enormous potential to advance human creativity and in a manner that enables the development and growth of new and exciting experiences for music fans everywhere."

However, the letter outlined the harmful effects of AI-generated technology on the man-made art these artists are trying to produce.

"Unfortunately, some platforms and developers are employing AI to sabotage creativity and undermine artists, songwriters, musicians and rightsholders," the petition continued. "This assault on human creativity must be stopped. We must protect against the predatory use of AI to steal professional artists' voices and likenesses, violate creators' rights, and destroy the music ecosystem."

Among the artists who signed the letter were Zayn Malik, Billy Porter, Camila Cabello, Darius Rucker, FINNEAS, J Balvin, The Jonas Brothers, Metro Boomin, Noah Kahan, Sheryl Crow, Imagine Dragons, Kate Hudson, Norah Jones, Smokey Robinson, Pearl Jam, Sheryl Crow, Jon Bon Jovi, Smokey Robinson, and Stevie Wonder.
