As she wrapped filming for the final season of Young Sheldon, former Hannah Montana star Emily Osment opens up about her music while also being offered a spinoff show.

The 32-year-old actress-singer released her new single, "Porcelain Doll," last April 26, 2024.

Emily Osment Talks Returns to Music

In an exclusive interview with People magazine, Osment shared that making music has always been something she loved and "never felt" pressured to pursue as a lone career "just because it was such a hobby."

"Acting, of course, has just been my job for so long, and I love it, and it's brought me such joy and such friendship," she added. "It's been so lovely to have both, but there are things that take precedence sometimes."

While many knew Osment for her role as Miley Cyrus's best friend in Hannah Montana, she also released music in 2019 under the moniker Bluebiird.

"It was one of those things where I'd been making music under my own name since I was 14, and as we all grow and change into adulthood, I felt it was the right thing to do to start fresh and potentially not have that previous music be associated with this new music that was fully my own discovery and process," she revealed.

According to Osment, she wants people to discover Bluebiird organically without knowing that it was made by someone they know from television, but because they liked it, listeners wouldn't have any idea that it was her.

"So it was a mask I could throw over it, and it's been wonderful. I really like it," she confirmed.

Emily Osment Takes On More Lead Roles

After the beloved fan reception to her new character on Young Sheldon, Osment was revealed to star in a spinoff show focusing on her and Montana Jordan's character, George Cooper.

With the script currently in the works, Osment revealed that the team is gearing up to start filming this summer, a prospect that fills her with Anticipation.

Although the show has yet to receive its official title, she talked about how excited she was in exploring her character in the new show.

"It's hinted in the marriage episode that [Mandy] wants to go back to school, that she maybe wants to have a career, that she doesn't want to just be a stay-at-home mom, which is how I feel," she revealed. "I think that's such a tremendous thing for mothers to also be working, and I can't wait to see what they do with that."

Young Sheldon airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
