Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid might have been in a longterm relationship and have a child together, but the former One Direction singer recently said he's unsure if he's truly been in love before.
The singer dropped by the Zach Sang Show to share details about his personal life and his upcoming album, Room Under the Stairs, set to be released on May 17.
The musician reflected on his love life: "I don't know if I've actually truly been in love at this point."
He explained that his definition of love has changed through the years, especially when he realized things, adding, "You look back at it with new eyes, and you're like, 'Well, maybe I wasn't in love there.'"
He continued, "Was it love or is it life experience that we are going through? Who knows? We're just in situations where we look back at them with different eyes, and it's a completely different situation."
The 31-year-old singer added that it's hard for him to decipher the true definition of love as he has yet to experience it aside from his family.
According to Elle, Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik began dating in late 2015 after coming out of their previous relationships.
Before being romantically involved, the supermodel was in a relationship with Joe Jonas while the singer broke off his engagement to Little Mix's Perrie Edwards.
Months later, Malik confirmed that they were dating in an interview. Since then, the couple has been photographed having dinner dates together and even attending red carpet events.

They initially dated for seven months before splitting up in June 2016, but they reconciled soon after. They broke up again in 2019 and Hadid went on to date Tyler Cameron, a former Bachelorette contestant.
By January 2020, they reportedly reconciled after being spotted on a night out in New York City.
Later that year, reports started to swirl that Hadid was pregnant, which she later confirmed on social media by sharing photos of her baby bump.
In September 2020, the couple announced that they officially welcomed their baby girl, whom they named Khai.
The following year, the relationship fizzled out once again as reports circulated about Malik allegedly striking the model's mom, Yolanda Hadid.
The former One Direction singer denied the allegation and declined to share more details. He later pled no contest to criminal charges of harassment.
Since then, the pair has remained amicable and continued to co-parent their child. Hadid even wished her ex a happy Father's Day on social media.
