Jason Derulo may have written the single "Marry Me" about his intentions with then-girlfriend Jordin Sparks, but it seems like he wasn't actually ready to make that big leap. In the latest installment in the "Why did Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks break up?" saga, it seems like it was all about the "Wiggle" singer's fear of long-term commitment.

In an interview with Ryan Seacrest on Monday (Sept. 29), Derulo revealed that pressure over marriage ultimately led to his split from his girlfriend of three years.

"What happened, in a nutshell, there was a lot of tension in the relationship for a lot of different reasons," Derulo said. "Every relationship has ups and downs. There was a lot of pressures of marriage. There was a lot of arguing and stuff like that that just weighed on our relationship over time. When you stop having more good times than bad, bad times, it's time to call it quits. It becomes something that is unhealthy."

Derulo made sure to note that it wasn't just Sparks who was pressuring him to propose - there were outside factors as well. "Yeah, and to be fair, it was not just from her either," he said about those wanting the couple to wed. "It was kind of from everybody. That's not the sole reason, but it definitely played a part."

The pressure to get married doesn't seem to be the only reason for the failed relationship. Derulo also cites busy schedules and distance for a reason for the split, but not his massive 2014 success.

"It weighed on the both of us. We think it may have weighed on her more than it weighed on me. Yeah, she got frustrated a lot. She was in that frustrated space a lot and I think part of that was part of my problem," he said. "There's different stories, like me just having too much going on right now, but it's a combination of a lot of things. No, there was no infidelity."

Meanwhile, Sparks is keeping her head up in wake of the break up, telling The Today Show, "I'm good, actually. The funny [thing] is that I read this book the other day. Actually, it was yesterday. It said when something unexpected happens in your life or you think something bad is happening, just say, 'Plot twist' and move on."
