Michael Jackson's famous "Thriller" music is going to get a little more thrilling in the New Year. The legendary, cinematic clip is getting a 3-D rework courtesy of the film's original director John Landis.

According to The New York Daily News, Landis has been reworking the 14-minute music video for a digital format, leading to a 3-D re-release set for theaters in 2015.

"It is going to reappear in a highly polished and three-dimensional way that is very exciting on the big screen," Landis told the newspaper.

The estate of Michael Jackson has confirmed that the music video will be getting the three-dimensional re-release, with an aim to have the video available for a short movie theater engagement and, eventually, Blu-Ray.

The 3-D reimagining of "Thriller" is something that the late Jackson supposedly wanted. According to a Jackson family "source," Jackson's planned This Is It London show was going to feature 3-D video elements.

But, it's not just going to end with a theater release and a Blu-Ray disc. "Thriller" may also be coming to a video game console near you, in one form or another.

"The estate has been looking at gaming ideas, too, and 'Thriller' fits into the genre," said the Jackson family source. "It could a be a dance experience or a zombie-style,shoot-'em-up-style movie. There are so many possibilities with this creative masterpiece."

A possible Michael Jackson "Thriller" video game wouldn't be the first time the King of Pop went into fan's hands. He had a Sega Genesis game, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, a Wii game Michael Jackson: The Experience.
