We already know that Fifty Shades of Grey pushes some boundaries that aren't exactly everyone's cup of tea but could the series written by EL James actually be hazardous to your health? Well that is what a study completed by Michigan State University seems to claim. According to the study researchers claim that women who have read the EL James series are far more likely to find themselves in harmful situations.

"Reading Fifty Shades of Grey could have a dramatic effect on the personalities of young women, a controversial new study has claimed...Researchers say young adult women who read the book are more likely than non-readers to exhibit signs of eating disorders and have a verbally abusive partner...Women who read all three books in the series are at increased risk of engaging in binge drinking and having multiple sex partners, it found."

Supposedly scientists consider Anastasia, one of the lead characters in the series to be in an abusive and unhealthy relationship with Christian Grey. Young women wanted to be like Ana might subconsciously gravitate towards men that are more aggressive and harsh in nature, leading to other problems. Do you think that James' audience is a bit more savvy than this study would seem to insinuate? It isn't talking about impressionable teenagers here but rather the subjects were adult women who should, by all accounts know that what makes an intricate story isn't necessarily what they are looking for in real life, right?

Are there really women out there searching for a guy to mistreat them just because they loved Fifty Shades of Grey? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
