Wilco's six-night residency titled "Wilco Winterlude 2014" in the band's hometown of Chicago will take place at the Riviera Theatre, the group recently announced.
As the Windy City's WXRT points out, the event will start Dec. 5 and the dates will be spread out until the final gig on Dec. 12 (see dates below). Each show will feature a different setlist, and the residency will be part of the radio station's Holiday Concert for the Kids, so attendees are asked to bring new toys or books that will be donated to patients in children's hospitals around the area.
Tickets go on sale this Friday (Oct. 17) at 10 a.m. through etix.com.
Wilco is currently on the road to celebrate their 20th anniversary, and they have seven dates scheduled before the Chicago residency. The band is also preparing the release of two box sets of rarities and hits. Alpha Mike Foxtrot, as Consequence of Sound points out, will feature four discs and have 77 rare studio and live recordings (tracklist below). What's Your 20 will be a collection of greatest hits. Pre-orders are going on now for the albums, which are out Nov.
