Some people's love of Bruce Springsteen was recently translated into cold-hard cash when The Boss showed up at a charity event in New York City.

According to the Associated Press and video from the event (see below), Springsteen put up two guitars for auction and began adding extras as the bidding continued. By the end of it, The Boss promised a one-hour guitar lesson, a ride in the sidecar of his motorcycle, the shirt off his back (a total Springsteen move) and a lasagna dinner at his home.

Two bidders ended up contributing $300,000 each, with each party taking home a guitar and intivation to Springsteen's house. The money went to the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which helps service men and women after they return hom from duty.

The singer played a five-song set that included "Working on the Highway," "Growin' Up," "Born in the U.S.A.," "Dancing in the Dark" and "If I Should Fall Behind," which he sang with wife, Patti Scialfa, Ultimate Classic Rock notes. John Oliver, Jon Stewart, Louis C.K. and Jim Gaffigan also performed.

Springsteen is also one of the headliners for "The Concert of Valor" that takes place Nov. 11 in Washington, D.C. in honor of Veterans Day. Metallica, Rihanna, Eminem, Dave Grohl, Carrie Underwood and Zac Brown Band are also on the bill. HBO will air the concert at 7 p.m. that day, Rolling Stone reports.

"The Concert for Valor will provide a national stage for ensuring that veterans and their families know that their fellow Americans' gratitude is genuine," the network wrote in a statement. "Millions of people, including veterans, active duty service members, their families and Americans from all walks of life are expected to watch the free concert in person or on television, with the goal of raising awareness for veterans service organizations dedicated to education, wellness, reemployment and reintegration."
