Eventbrite is perhaps the best source for music venue-related news so we'll give them some credence when it comes to deeming what establishments receive the most attention from the millennial generation. The site, along with Mashwork—a social media analysis site—scoured social media to figure out a Top 10 of the "most buzzed about" concert venues in the country. The results aren't necessarily that exciting (from Dancing Astronaut).

Our initial guess might have been that New York City and Los Angeles would dominate the list. We were half right. Although the largest city in California didn't manage to land any venues in the Top 10, New York scored four. Equalling the Big Apple was Las Vegas, which also gathered four venues. Miami and, interestingly enough, Houston were the only other cities to claim a venue.

The moral to take from this whole thing is that millenials are way more psyched for nightclubs and EDM in general when it comes to spreading the word on Twitter and Facebook. A previous study from Eventbrite found that they posted more about events than any other genre and it seems they include the name of the venue more than other genres as well, suggesting the importance of the venue to the music itself is more relevant to the scene. The proof is that eight of the Top 10 were nightclub-type establishments, with Las Vegas' premiere destination Hakkasan taking no. 1. Even the one Brooklyn entry was Output, not one of Williamsburg's many well-regarded alt-rock showcases.

The only non-club performance spaces that cracked the Top 10 were Webster Hall, an East Village concert hall, and Lincoln Center...a particularly interesting entry considering its output tends to be the opposite of everything else on the list. Our theory (having done so ourselves) is that millenials are more likely to mention Lincoln Center in their tweets while visiting an opera or jazz performance in order to condescend to their friends.
