Movie star Luke Wilson recently signed on to portray a tour manager in Showtime's upcoming rock 'n' roll comedy, Roadies. Cameron Crowe is the mastermind behind this one, and he will write and direct the pilot episode. Imogen Poots (V for Vendetta), Keisha Castle-Hughes (Game of Thrones) and Peter Cambor (NCIS: Los Angeles) will round out the main cast.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wilson's character, Bill, is a struggling road manager who's five years sober and still making things happen for his band. The rest of the cast will take on roles like electrical tech, guitar tech and sound mixer. J.J. Abrams is set to executive produce as well.

Crowe is no stranger to transferring rock imagery to film. His 2000 film, Almost Famous, won Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards along with a slew of other honors. Prior to the movie, Crowe was a music journalist, so he's been around the scene before, which should make Roadies a fun watch.

"I love that we're finally doing Roadies. J.J. and I have been talking about it for some time," he said after the show was picked up in June. "We're fans of crews, those workers up on the rigging towers, or walking feverishly with eight phones on their belt. Those quietly devoted people live huge lives, they're often the real keepers of the flame. So happy to also be telling these stories with Showtime, and also with one of my very favorite writer-producers ever, Winnie Holzman. Let's get this show on the road."

Wilson's big screen projects for 2015 include the Cuban Missile Crisis drama Dear Eleanor, drama Meadowland, and an animated feature Rock Dog.
