Modest Mouse launched their official Instagram page today by posting an image of a vinyl record labeled "Side A: 'Lampshades on Fire'." This is sparked rumors of new material from the group, which would be their first new music since 2009's No One's First and You're Next. As Pitchfork points out, the band has been playing a song believed to have the title "Lampshades on Fire" live since 2011, so it's possible that they are finally getting around to recording it.

Modest Mouse has reportedly been working on the album for the past few years and recently reissued their first two full-lengths 1996'sThis is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About, and 1997's The Lonesome Crowded West.

Last year, Nirvana's Krist Novoselic confirmed in an interview with Spotify that he had been contributed bass to one song on the upcoming Modest Mouse album.

"It's pretty edgy," he said. "I've got my big Gibson bass and a Rat distortion pedal busting out a... this bass riff.

Back in 2011, Big Boi spoke to MTV about his involvement in Modest Mouse's new album. He said he was a producer on the record along with frequent OutKast collaborator Chris Carmouche.

"I've been a fan of the band for a minute... We're all musicians and producers and artists, and it's just like a big-ass brainstorm, a brain-stormin', tsunami, typhoon, tectonic-plates-movin' kind of thing. We do all types of music, so to get the chance to jam with a jammin'-ass band, I knew it was going to be cool. We had a vibe too. We made a couple of records that are just jamming. It's a hodgepodge of funkiness."

He continued: "Mainly, me and Chris [Carmouche] are acting as producers on the record. I'm not rapping on anything, as of yet. ... It's their music. I'm also a producer, as well as an artist, but I'm not just going to jump on something just to jump on it, you know? The fans don't have to worry. There's nothing like, 'Oh, Modest Mouse, there's some rapping going on the album!' If there needs to be some rapping on there, I will destroy it, but right now, we're just really marinating with the music to see where everything's going to go. ... Just know this motherf---er is jamming, man. Believe me."
