Joe Perry released a four-song EP of holiday tunes last week that feature guitar work by actor Johnny Depp, who's been known to jam with the pros from time to time. The Aerosmith guitarist dropped a video today (December 11) for his rendition of Chuck Berry's amped-up classic "Run Run Rudolph." Perry's axe work is awesome, as usually, but where's Steven Tyler when you need him?

Okay, so the vocals aren't that bad, but Tyler would have killed this tune. Perry explained to Rock Cellar that he always wanted Aerosmith to put out a Christmas album, so it sounds like Tyler had his chance.

"I have wanted to do a Christmas CD with Aerosmith for years, but it seems we never have the time to record one," he said.

Perry said he put together the EP, Joe Perry's Merry Christmas, at the end of his promotional tour for his new autobiography, Rocks: My Life in and Out of Aerosmith.

"The tracks are all live. That's a real horn section. Those are real girl singers in there. On a lot of my solo records I played everything, but I wanted this to be a real band, so we recorded it like we would've recorded it on tape," he said.

Other tracks from the album include "Silent Night," "White Christmas" (both instrumental) and Elvis Presley's "Santa Claus is Back in Town."

"They're songs that I've always wanted to do. If I'd been home sitting around and going down in my studio, they're songs I would've knocked off just for the fun of it, just to see how they came out."
