It was a tough year for rap, word to A$AP Yams. Nonetheless, there were some hot releases, including YG's My Krazy Life. While many are still wondering how the album was overlooked by the Grammys, the West Coast rapper stopped by Power 106 to discuss the snub after his debut was named the Best Rap Album of 2014.

During a sit-down with the station's Big Boy's Neighborhood, YG expressed his frustration with the lack of acknowledgement from the association.

"I already knew I wasn't going to win a Grammy," he said. "The whole year I was like 'They not gone give me the Grammy but they gone nominate me for sure.' But when I seen some of them albums on there, it was like, I didn't really get it. I really feel some type of way."

YG went on to give his opinion of why the album may have been left out, pointing to the raw, street content of My Krazy Life.

"I know it got something to do with me being from the streets and representing what I represent and talking about what I talk about on these records, but I feel like the Grammy people need to know that I'm really out here. I'm the people's champ."

He went on to shed light on his various charitable contributions and his involvement with the community.

Despite the lack of his Grammy recognition, Billboard named My Krazy Life the Best Rap Album of 2014. The magazine's site said the cinematic feel of the album put the "Left, Right" rapper's debut in a league of its own.

"Obviously, there were singles, loads of them: "Left Right," "Who Do You Love?" and "My N---a." But what separates My Krazy Life was the construction of the album, how it was shaped like a movie," the review read.

Earlier this week, YG released his Blame It On The Streets short film and accompanying soundtrack. The film draws inspiration from two of the rapper's album cuts: "BPT," a song about YG's initiation into the infamous Piru Bloods gang, and "Meet the Flockers," which describes his experience as a house burglar.
