After years of speculation that the NFL would ship a team to Los Angeles for the 2015 season, Commissioner Roger Goodell reportedly told all teams that no such move will be made in time for next year.

ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news on Twitter Saturday morning.

We've known for a while that those three teams are considered primary candidates for an L.A. move. The Raiders and Rams were both previously tenants in the Los Angeles Coliseum, while the Chargers already have a significant fan base in southern California.

Earlier this month, Goodell hinted to The New York Times that lack of a solidified stadium deal was hurting progress.

"I'm not at the point where I would tell you that anything is imminent or that we have a solution identified at this point in time," Goodell said. "There is progress, but we've all heard that before."

There have been multiple recent reports that state more than one team is interested in moving to the United States' second-largest market.

Why can't teams just make the decision to move on their own?

"The NFL has full control of the process via the votes necessary to gain the right to relocate, as well as the determination of relocation fees, etc," wrote Jason La Canfora of CBS.

The current regular season is winding down, with the playoffs beginning in the first week of January and the Super Bowl scheduled for Feb. 1.
