Ed Sheeran is known to bend himself into any number of genres. He'll rap with Hoodie Allen, release a touching acoustic anthem for himself and write pop classics with One Direction, but he hasn't ventured much into reggae - until New Year's Eve, that is. As a part of Jools Holland's Jools' Annual Hootenanny on the BBC, the "Thinking Out Loud" singer got in touch with his funky side by covering a Stevie Wonder classic, "Master Blaster (Jammin')"

Sheeran closed out his massive 2014 in the U.K. on the musical variety show. With Holland himself accompanying Sheeran on piano, Sheeran got into the groove on Wonder's reggae-infused Hotter Than July single with plenty of grit.

Sheeran easily pulled off the performance, with the smokiest and most raw part of his voice shining through. His raspy vocals worked well with the song, adding in a bit of blues into the reggae beat and the funky horns.

And despite the massive impact of Wonder's music, Sheeran looked comfortable and passionate on stage. Dressed in a white shirt and black vest and tie, Sheeran closed his eyes while jamming on "Master Blaster," looking like the seasoned live performer that he truly is.
