Kimberly Perry and The Band Perry usually plays up-tempo hits at awards shows, so their cover of Glen Campbell's "Gentle On My Mind" at the 2014 CMA Awards was much different than their typical fare. The song selection was enough to make Perry get butterflies before getting onstage. Because of this, she decided to focus on one star in the front row -- Faith Hill -- and lock eyes for the duration of the song.

"You know, I always have to pick out an artist in the first few rows to sort of interact with," she said (via The Boot). "And that song, because so many of our awards show performances have been fast-paced and they come and go so quickly, but 'Gentle On My Mind' is a slower-paced song and we really had a moment to, like, take in the first few rows. And Faith is always so gracious, I always interact with her."

Perry has been playing with her brothers, Reid and Neil, under TBP since 2005. Their 2010 hit, "If I Die Young," brought them to the national forefront and they've been used to the bright lights for quite awhile. But "Gentle On My Mind" required a Hill staredown and the results were weird enough that the brothers kidded Kim about it.

"Is that why her security came up?" they asked, according to their sister, who added: "It was a special moment, though."

Perry is not sure if Hill realized what was going on, but she's still confident.

"We haven't talked about it or anything but, I mean, I'm sure she knew," Perry said.

It's been 20 months since the group's most recent album, so it's not a stretch to think they'll drop some new tunes in 2015. Their Campbell cover reached No. 35 on the country charts. Check it out below:
