While it had been previously reported that lovely-dovey couple Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder were expecting to spend 2015 together without the pressure of taking another step in their romance, it looks like that may not be the case. The couple was spotted shopping together in a jewelry store over the weekend and apparently it's not the first time that Somerhalder has looked at baubles for Reed.
According to a report by Hollywood Life, a few weeks ago the actor was spotted in Neil Lane Jewelers in L.A. and yes, he was looking at engagement rings. At that point in time he walked out the door without making a purchase but a proposal was quite obviously on his mind. So perhaps the notion that Reed wants to take her time might just be a way of trying to buy the couple a bit of time and privacy.
Reed's divorce from Paul McDonald is almost completely a done deal which will then leave the actress free to really move on in any way that she wants to. Somerhalder was dating his Vampire Diaries costar Nina Dobrev for years and the fans of the show totally invested in them as a couple. Because Dobrev and Reed used to be really close friends, they haven't been as supportive of the pairing of Somerhalder and his new love. In fact many still seem to hope for a reconciliation of the two in spite of it seeming nearly impossible at this point.
