Craig Ferguson's departure from The Late Late Show was sort of ignored by the general public, considering the other late-night moves. David Letterman is leaving The Late Show and will be replaced by Stephen Colbert, effectively changing the format of two beloved time slots. Comedian James Corden was not able to fill in for Ferguson immediately, so some guest hosts including Jim Gaffigan, Judd Apatow and John Mayer will fill the void.

The guitarist recently took to Twitter to promise an awesome guest lineup for his February dates, Billboard notes.

"The guest lineup for my CBS Late Late Show hosting stint is incredible. Stay tuned for the official list... These are going to be great shows," he tweeted, adding, "insanity guaranteed."

Ferguson, who wrapped his 10-year hosting stint in December, announced his departure in August, four months after Letterman told fans he would be leaving Late Show.

"CBS and I are not getting divorced, we are 'consciously uncoupling,' but we will still spend holidays together and share custody of the fake horse and robot skeleton, both of whom we love very much," Ferguson, true to form, said.

Details about Mayer's guest spot have yet to emerge, but hopefully he will strap on a guitar at some point — even if it is just for a sketch.

Mayer's last album, Paradise Valley, came out in 2013. It hit No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on a slew of other charts.
