Ariana Grande won't be the only pop star on the upcoming Fox comedy-drama Scream Queens. Nick Jonas has just signed on to the project for a recurring role, but details about his character and the plot are being kept quiet. The show will be the second TV series to air on the network by Glee creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, The Hollywood Reporter notes.

Here's what we know about the show so far:

It is an hour-long comedy that takes place in a college community and has to deal with a string of murders. Much like Murphy's other brainchild, American Horror Story, it will be set up as an anthology series, meaning other seasons will have different plots and characters. Fox ordered 15 episodes for the first season. Other stars include Joe Manganiello, Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, Abagail Breslin and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Scream Queens sounds like a bit of a gamble, but Murphy has already proven himself a master of horror and comedy. Now he just needs to blend the two. As Glee comes to an end, fans will be looking for something to fill that void, and they're most likely the same admirers of the pop singers Grande and Jonas, so they'll watch. This could be a major homerun, slam dunk, or whatever other sports metaphor you like, for Fox.

Jonas is currently starring in DirecTV's Kingdom as a young MMA fighter. The singer/actor spoke to Time last year about his plans to continue in television while balancing a music career, citing Elvis Presley as an inspiration.

"My goal is to be the kind of performer that can be in movies and television shows, like the show Kingdom I'm doing now," he said. "Be in that and have a career in that, but also do my music. Both are a form of my artistry and it's a shame that sometimes you're limited to one. A lot of people feel like you have to focus on one at a time, but I want to be greedy and do both."
