What on earth was Peter Carroll thinking last night when, instead of putting faith in arguably the best running back in football right now, Marshawn Lynch, he instructed that the Seattle Seahawks instead pass the ball. That intercepted pass, just one yard away from winning Super Bowl XLIX, will go down in history as one of the worst plays ever. At least Carroll has owned that the play call was entirely his idea, so ultimately he is the one responsible for handing the New England Patriots their fourth Super Bowl victory under coach Bill Belichick. But overall, the ratings soared.

There have been reports that even the players were up in arms about that final call as they returned to the locker room, according to SB Nation. Everyone thought Lynch should have been handling that ball, except for the man himself. Instead, Lynch told reporters that football is a team sport and not just hinged on one person.

But the reality is if Lynch had been instructed to run that ball chances are this morning it would be the Seahawks who would be celebrating instead of Tom Brady and his team.

No matter what team you were rooting for, one thing is for sure: Super Bowl XLIX was definitely a success. Katy Perry killed the halftime show and the ratings were huge. Fans were left biting their nails right down to the last seconds, and that means NBC scored the biggest Super Bowl overnight ratings in history. They were also up 4 percent overall from last year, so the network might have been the biggest winner of all.
